During the Joseon Dynasty, when women had almost no place in the professional sphere, there were a group of women called “Damo.” They were the policewomen who could enter ladies’ private rooms and interrogate the high society ladies that the men could not. A tragedy befalls Chae-ok’s (Ha Ji-won) family, and she is separated from them to become a servant to the Hwang-bo family. It is within the care of the son Hwang-bo Yun (Lee Seo-jin) that she becomes a damo to his high-status police offer. And while the two love each other, their love can never be due to the difference in social status. Then one day there appears a rebel group, and leading them is the mysterious and charismatic Jang Seong-baek (Kim Min-jun). Chae-ok finds herself inexplicably attracted to Seong-baek, feelings that conflict with her status as a Damo and cause tension between herself and Yun. A spellbinding drama with beautiful cinematography and exciting action scenes, Damo is a pleasure for the eyes, and it’s tragic love story will touch the hearts of the viewers.
